Less about Golf Tips and more
about a Fascinating Game!

My name is Patrick McHugh and I am delighted to welcome you to my web site. I have been teaching golf for many years and have given thousands of individual lessons to players of all levels.

I have, like many of my colleagues, prided myself in giving students my fullest attention and effort when influe- ncing them with my knowledge of the swing and the game. However about ten years ago, I realised that I was somehow not managing to get what I considered a relatively simple set of instructions efficienly across to them.

Many people have enlightened me over the years and I must thank, among others, Timothy Gallwey, Micha- el Murphy, Greg McHatton and Fred Shoemaker. They have helped me to realise that the way we are taught this game ignores the natural learning system that is already in place through millions of years of evolution.

(This learning system has developed into one of the strongest of human resources. This resource is as old as intellegence itself and through evo- lution continues to develop and improve. We are only beginning to realise just how powerful this resource is and how this near perfect process should not be altered)

As anyone who has taken golf lessons can attest, most golf instruction programs emphasize a routine of body mechanics, where teaching pro- fessionals lecture and manipulate hand place- ment and body posture as they see fit.

In contrast, a fresh approach to golf coach- ing shuns this student/teacher relationship in place of a 'rapport of partnership' where the intrinsic abilities of each student are encour- aged to develop.

In this revolutionary but ancient method, golf students are taught to be the source of the- ir own skill development. As in the learning of more natural skills like swinging a hammer or an axe, throwing or catching a ball, riding a bike... and many more.

Golfers would excel if they could learn to tru- st this highly developed process which has al- ready been finely tuned through the wonders of evolution. We are just beginning to scratch the surface of the fantastic results that can be accomplished using this method.
