Exceptional Golf...

And how to achieve it

In order to give more exceptional golf lessons, I scoured the internet and came across Fred Shoemaker. He is the author of the two Extraordinary Golf books;

'Extraordinary Golf - The Art of the Possible' and

'Extraordinary Putting - Transforming the Whole Game'

He is also a student of the 'Inner Game' teachings of Timothy Gallway, like myself and I was delighted to read another golf professional's adaptation of this.

There was one simple sentence in Fred's book that caught my eye.

He was discussing the conventional method used for teaching and the revolutionary extraordinary/inner game method.

He wrote,

"In the old culture golfers are blind and in the new culture they begin to see. It really is that simple."

Through using rather simple awareness and concentration exercises and having students realise a much higher level of feedback for how they were swinging, it was possible for them to achieve much better results.

Thus 'The Art of the Possible' is explained.

I, however, couldn't wait to get started on Juliana and immediately tested the new stuff on her. When I think back to my early attempts, the first thing that warmed my heart was the realisation that I would never again be able to upset my daughter with nastiness or cruelty during a lesson.

It just cannot be done because this technique is all about non-directional feedback.
