Free Golf Instruction

When it comes to free golf instruction, the following golf advice for the golf swing should be attended to. There are many golf tips around today but this one should help improve world golf.

On this page, I would like to introduce you to a magical formula to improve your golf performance forever.

As a coach it is my job to help my students learn the golf swing as proficiently as possible and thus fulfill this task.

As children we learned to walk, jump, climb, ski, throw, ride a bike, etc and these skills remain learned. Even if I hadn't been on a bike for 20 years, I would still be able to ride it proficiently within seconds of cycling. Simple fact is they remain learned.

Golf, however, is completely different. It's a case of 'here today, gone tomorrow’. But why?

With the aforementioned activities there is one skill that is paramount and that is...

Balance.

If you were to observe 100 people walking past you, although there would be different walking styles, you would notice that the vast majority would be walking past in a fluent and balanced manner.

The same could be said for sking, walking and cycling etc.

Now imagine 100 golfers practicing on the driving range, although they will have different swinging styles, the vast majority will look anything but fluent and balanced.

The sad fact is hitting the golf ball seems more important than fluency and balance and in the other sports omitting these skills can lead to severe injury.

Apart from back pain and tennis/golf elbow, golf is not as dangerous as the other mentioned activities when balance is not properly addressed.

So let's address this topic.

Imagine you are standing in a fairly shallow swimming pool with the water a few inches above your knees. In your golf stance, bend forward and spray the water with you right hand (for right-handers) and feel the smoothness and balance. On a scale of 1 to 10 you should be registering a 10, as this is a very natural movement.

Now take a golf club and, holding it in you right hand, make a few swings in mid air until you register the same 10. Then adopt you normal two-handed golf grip and again swing mid air until you achieve a 10 once again.

Now swish the grass with a relatively easy swing until you register the same 10. Now you are ready to swing and sweep the ball away and you can expect to hit one of the sweetest golf shots of your life.

If you didn't, then you also didn't register a 10 on the fluency and balance scale.

So get back into the swimming pool once again and feel the smoothness.
