Do you have a good Golf Buddy?

I was recently discussing the use of motor skills in sport with a golf buddy of mine. He commented that it is very apparent in ladies golf, when they are learning how to play golf, how they seek the perfect golf swing with a more perfectionistical slant.

They are certainly more in their heads as in their bodies which, is rather unfortunate as it is their body that performs the golf swing.

Where ladies are concerned I do not talk about a golf swing, instead I talk about a natural swing we use for everyday activities.

Take a look at the image of the lady to the right...

Now this lady isn't in her head, she is in full flow, battering dust out of a mat with an efficient one armed swing. As a matter of fact her right arm has vast similarities to the right arm at the end of the golf backswing.

If someone were to hold the mat for her, or she hung it onto something, I'm quite sure she would have a swipe at it using both hands.

In the graphic below a man is doing just that.

He's whacking the carpet with a swing that is closely related to a so called golf or baseball swing. The lavel at which he is swinging is slightly higher than golf and a little lower than baseball.

I am quite sure this guy would not look out of place wearing a New York Yankees pin-striped strip or golf apparel. In fact take the carpet away and remove the big flat head from the carpet beater and replace it with a 460cc driver head and we would be admiring his impact conditions.

I opened this page talking about a golf buddy of mine, well the dynamics of the swing with this carpet beater has also become a good buddy of mine.
