Are golf drills necessary?

Let me elaborate.

Of all my golf drills, this one poses the biggest problems because some of you just cannot associate with swatting a fly.

Well now we are getting somewhere. You are either a member of the fairer sex and/or the very thought of this turns your stomach..

Ladies just don't swat flies. It's something guys do. So I've had to find a better example for some of you.

Let me firstly apologise for my tendency to mainly address men but I am Scottish and there's not many ladies back home playing the game. (No dogs, no ladies)

By the way, due to other misunderstandings, if you were going to raise your hand in preparation to swat a fly you wouldn't be flailing it all over the place.

The fly would just fly off.

Nooo, you would need to make a very slow and deliberate motion before you strike.

And when you feel ready, (the syrup is rich), you know the inner energy has been built up to a level that enhances your speed.

May I say, nobody has ever noticed me doing this during my routine.

Leela didn't understand this analogy either so I have borrowed one of Timothy Gallwey's golf drills from his book, 'The Inner Game of Golf'.

He discusses how energy is built up behind a dam by the water flowing towards it.

When the dam is opened, the water flows out slowly but powerfully at first and then quite soon, roars forward sweeping along in a tremendous rush.

Gallwey suggests that we imagine our energy being stored behind a dam as we approach the ball and as we picture the build up as near to overflowing, imagine the dam opening as you start your swing.

This isn't a difficult anomaly as it is just how energy release occurs.

For any of you who can achieve this, please contact me with your experience.

Perhaps you activate your powerful energy flow with a different anomaly from Gallweys or my own fly swatting version.

If this natural adrenalin activator could be achieved by more golfers, we would enjoy this cruel game much more and I'm sure the word cruel could be dropped by its disciples.

Please use the contact page if you have any comments.

Thanks

Build your own Website!

About 2 years ago I began to wonder how I could create a profitable website and stumbled upon a system called SBI. If you are interested in making money online, or want to create your own website, I highly recommend this service. Without their fantastic training and tools my 'Golf Tips' site would not have been possible.
