Trust Golf Pride
No, Trust The New 2Thumb Putter Grip
I was reading a golf magazine two years ago and I came across a Golf Pride advertisement which stated, "Important Golf News - Revolutionary New Golf Grips for Putting"
The ad was promoting the "2Thumb Grip" and as an interested putting coach, I immediately ordered a few. When they arrived I popped one onto my favourite putter and spent hours sampling it on the artificial golf green in my proshop.
It was Fantastic. Square and comfortable shoulders, quiet hands and a perfect pendulum swing. This grip made for much better fundamentals and when I struck my first ball I just knew I could never go back to a thinner grip. The two main advantages with this grip are: - Parallel hands, elbows and shoulders which promote the perfect pendulum motion.
- Thumb and Forefinger placement that makes it virtually impossible to grip tightly or flinch/yip.
I do not position my index fingers behind the grip, as in the picture above. I extend them to the sides of the grip formimg a sort of "H" shape. (As in the picture on the left) By doing this I cannot squeeze or if I do, it just happens between the thumb pads. The main point is my pincers, thumbs and index fingers are quietened. I must at this point thank Philip H Gazeley, he is the putting coach who invented this smart grip and not Golf Pride like I thought.
