Golf swing Instruction
It's all in the print-out
Adam Scott is the perfect example of a golfer who has had endless golf swing instruction. His golf motor skills are damn near perfect. Now take the likes of Sam Snead, Trevino, Palmer or even Nicklaus, they all had more natural swings and terrific gross motor skills.
I would now like to tell you about my favourite golf swing instruction lesson. It involves throwing a tennis ball against a wall. Bear with me. I take my normal golf stance for this and throw the ball from side on, with my right hand, at about hip height. I of course

my arm on a similar plane to golf, letting go just after the normal six o'clock (impact) position During this lesson I am trying to achieve a level of relaxation that gets close to perfect. In fact not just perfect relaxation of the body but also the mind. As throwing a tennis ball belongs to relatively basic gross motor skills, this is not so difficult to achieve.

If you were ever in a hospital, you will have seen all sorts of graphic monitors measuring all sorts of response levels. For example, heart beat, breathing or even stress levels. The print-outs are sometimes like mountain peaks when you look at them and sometimes very fine waves, depending on what's being monitored. We are going to activate our own inbuilt body monitor while carrying out this lesson.

The use of this inner monitor is very important in these two processes. The fine tuning of this monitor is what separates the great players from the rest. I would be so coy as to say that Tiger Woods' swing (body) monitor would be a bit wavier than his mental (mind) monitor, which would be as smooth as a river of syrup.
