Golfers!

Drive for sHOW?

Are you one of the many golfers who is striving to hit a longer tee shot?

Personally speaking, I am pretty competent when I am within one hundred and fifty yards of the hole. My shortcoming was always with the driver where I found myself on average thirty to forty yards behind many of my peers.

Finding the fairway was never my problem but getting one out there, with the longer hitters, seemed beyond my reach.

However having watched and played with good amatures and some golf professionals over the years, I have become more and more convinced that hitting it consistently longer was an attainable goal.

These long-hitters aren't doing anything super human. In fact, I believe most of us put more effort into our drives than them.

I find the new equipment and instruction that is available today has led to a more enlightened understanding of the dynamics needed for longer and straighter drives.

Sometimes we just need to be less scientific in our approach and address more natural aspects like creating better visual concepts in order to achieve better results.

As a professional golf coach, I have studied the swing, read many golf books, watched endless videos and have used many training aids over the years in my quest to find a better drive.

All of these things have brought me to fully understand just how it can become an achievable reality. To cut a long story short, I would like to introduce you to a technique that will give you a consistently longer and straighter drive.

I am sure many of you have heard of or have indeed tried the swing aid called the impact bag.

If not, take a look at it on the illustration to the right. There are two great images of a right and left handed golfer hitting it.

Their impact positions are excellent; with their weight solidly over the back foot, with magnificent knee-kick/hip rotation, a flat left wrist (for right-handed golfers) and a solid target side (The left side for right handed golfers).

But what impresses me most is that everyone, I mean everyone after a little tuition, looks just great at impact using this bag.

What disappoints me is they can't achieve these wonderful conditions when they need it most, with the golf ball.

Which brings me to my findings and lets me introduce my version of the impact bag which has an extra twist that makes achieving the same conditions with the ball much more realistic.

I have no real argument against the fact that the present impact bag helps golfers achieve wonderful impact conditions. But these conditions are achieved during the visual process of hitting a bag and we don't have the same visuals when we step up to the ball.

That's why most golfers do not achieve improved impact conditions with the ball after using this aid.

The secret lies in having a clear visual concept that can be simulated with both the impact bag and the ball when we are playing.

Now take another look at the graphic to the left which has already been displayed at the top of the page.

This version of the impact bag gives the golfer a much better visual concept for a swing that can be used with a ball. The trick lies in using a specially marked ball which captures the visual concept that was practised with this modified bag. (These markings conform with the rules of golf)

The specially marked ball is a rather straightforward procedure. The impact bag however has not yet been developed but when or if it is, it's going to revolutionize the success we have when we step onto the tee to let one fly.

If you are a designer or have the resources to sponsor the devolopment of this idea, then contact me and I will be happy to discuss the details with you.

Think about this...

When I explain this visual concept and the swing thoughts behind this design to my students, they tee up and smash their drives down the middle over and over again.

I know that this design would make it easier for all players to adopt this successful visual concept. The gap between what the present impact bag offers and what happens when we try this with a ball has not yet been addressed.
