The Line of Compression...

Must be Maintained

On this page I explain how to maintain the line of compression.

"Wh-wh-whaaat?" I hear you ask...

Well I am not going to explain exactly what it means, just how to do it.

It is what all the top professionals do so well and it helps create effortless power.

To put it as simply as possible,

"It is the phase through impact when the clubface compresses the ball while remaining relatively square to the intended line of flight."

I am of course open to better explanations but must again stress that I am more interested in clarifying how to achieve this phenomenen.

Let us start by putting ourselves in the following scenario to get a more natural feeling for maintaining this line...

We are standing in a shallow kiddies swimming pool, adopting our normal golf stance. We are now going to spray water with our right hand, in an underarm motion, directly to our left (for right handers).

We are trying to splash as much water as we can with each stroke. Also attempting to project it as straight and horizontal as possible.

The more, the flatter and the straighter we spray the water, the more we are maintaining the compression line.

Let us now adopt a scenario that is more in tune with golf...

We are once again in a swimming pool and it has a hardish but rubbery base and the water is only 1 centimetre deep. This time we will be spraying the water with a 6 or 7 iron. Once again, the more, the flatter and the straighter the better. (The loft of the club will of course spray the water higher)

So, to finish, Homer Kelley explains that we should maintain the line of compression and I say,

"Spray as much water as possible."

Build your own Website!

About 2 years ago I began to wonder how
I could create a profitable website and stumbled upon a system called SBI. If you are interested in making money online, or want to create your own website, I highly recommend this service. Without their fantastic training and tools my 'Golf Tips' site would not have been possible.
