Sand Play

Keep it simple!

I find sand play to be a nice extra in the game and always feel the words used to describe where it lies on the course a little too strong. For instance the use of the words hazard, trap or bunker is, in my opinion, rather inappropriate.

When we take our kids to the beach or build a sand pen for them in the garden, the association is normally filled with fun-filled connotations.

We give them a spade and bucket and they will spend hours learning what they can do with these tools.

When I take my students into the sand, they also have a spade (sand wedge), a bucket and, of course, some golf balls. I will then give them a few drills and then let them spend hours learning what they can do with these tools.
