Should we copy Tiger Woods?

I would say, "Why not?"

What is there that we can copy from Tiger Woods?

Easiest answer, just about everything.

From the way he grooms himself (except every now and again when he decides to sport that silly goatee) to how he conducts himself on the course or when he is getting interviewed.

But the main thing that I like to copy is the fluency of his swing.

I am not saying that we mere mortals should copy his actual swing, just its smoothness.

Take a look at this wonderful video on his sponsor's page and then play this music in your head when you are swinging on the range.
Tiger's swing in slow motion

If you point your mouse over the tracker you can manipulate his swing through its different stages. I love that big hip bump that he makes at the start of the downswing.

For those 'out to in'/'over the top' swingers you want to be looking at this part of the swing. This is where all the power that was built up in the backswing is put on hold.

This is the important transition period where Tiger and company do not start with the hands or arms or shoulders. They start from the ground up and the arms feel as if they are about to pull a taught rope that is attached to a weight of some sort.

Similar to the feel of pulling on a rope that is attached to the side of a big heavy bell that bellringers pull.

You can see in this video that Tiger is pulling his club/rope way past the ball and the dynamics/design of the club brings the club head into the path of the ball.

Get someone to hold your club head when it is at the 9 O' clock position on the downswing and try pulling it with your core muscles.

The more you are pulling with your legs and core muscles and the less you are pulling with your hands, arms and shoulders at this point, the better.

As Greg McHatton says, "Pull forever".
